Essential SEO Content Writing Lessons from My First Month at Fly High Media

In my first month at Fly High Media, I learned valuable lessons that have helped me improve as an SEO Content Writer.

Although challenging, my experience has been rewarding and enlightening.

As a content writer, I find the job creatively fulfilling, especially when working with various businesses to meet their diverse content needs.

This enables me to tailor the writing to the client’s requirements while being able to be creative with the piece.

Besides writing, there are other important factors to consider, such as SEO needs like keywords, in-text links, tone, and formatting.

Here are five lessons I’ve learned over the past month while working at Fly High Media.

1. SEO is Key

As anyone in the field of marketing knows, having good Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is crucial for businesses that want to attract more traffic and potential customers.

It’s essential to keep the content writing aligned with the SEO keywords.

Placing the high-value keywords early in the written piece increases the chances of boosting the article’s search engine rankings.

2. In-House Style

Maintaining a consistent and professional tone is essential when creating written content for a business.

Each company has its own set of guidelines for content creation, and this is known as an in-house style guide.

As a newcomer to Fly High Media, I was introduced to their in-house style during my initial month on the job.

My colleagues provided me with detailed guidance on the tone, language, formatting, and other key elements that form a part of the company’s style guide.

This allowed me to adjust my work and ensure that it aligned with Fly High Media’s standards while also maintaining a distinctive voice that fits the company’s values and personality.

3. Editing

A lot of my job involves writing and editing blog articles for clients, which in itself is a time-consuming process that requires attention to detail.

While having editing experience in the past, working at speed to create articles but retain quality was a whole new learning curve.

Over the last month, I’ve had to adjust to producing high-quality content for clients at speed, which means keeping my attention on grammar, punctuation, and tone with each piece.

4. Internal Links

It is crucial to integrate internal links within your written content.

As a content writer, I understand the importance of incorporating these links with relevant anchor text so they have the maximum impact on the conversion rates within the content.

Over the past month, I have spent considerable time analysing and researching the most effective ways to place these links within the content.

By doing so, I aim to increase the visibility of the brand and ultimately drive more clicks on specific products, which can lead to an increase in sales and conversions.

5. Time Management

Learning how to manage your time is vital in the marketing world.

I learned this lesson during my first month at Fly High Media, where I discovered that setting specific deadlines for completing each piece of written content had a significant impact on my productivity.

By breaking down my workload into manageable chunks with designated timeframes, I was able to focus my energy on each task and produce high-quality content on time.

This approach not only improved my efficiency but also helped me stay organised and reduce stress levels.

I highly recommend implementing a time management strategy for anyone working in a fast-paced industry like marketing.
